Boat Control On-Water Training

Close Quarters Maneuvers

Module 1: Introduction to Boating

Overview: This module covers the basics every boater needs to know, including understanding your boat operation, navigation laws, operating with confidence in various water conditions, handling current and wind, and practicing safety with a proven checklist before departure. A must for new boaters and a great refresher for experienced ones!

Module 2: Precision Docking and Boat Handling

Practice handling your boat in everyday situations. Learn how to depart the dock, turn your vessel 180 degrees in tight spaces, and approach and dock your boat safely and confidently. Discover how your boat responds to the wind and current, and how to use these elements in your favor when docking instead of fighting against them.

Open Water Maneuvers

Module 3: Open Water Boat Handling

Take your skills to the next level by learning how to read Navigation Aids, rules of navigation, avoid over-steering and course correction issues on longer runs, and maintain position in wind and waves. You’ll also gain experience landing and departing from shorelines, not just docks.

Module 4: Open Water Boat Handling Advanced Maneuvering

Learn how to reach planning speed with confidence, understand how the boat responds to different speeds, handle wakes like a pro, execute sharp maneuvers with precision, and master life-saving man overboard recovery tactics.
