Expert Guidance and Coaching for Confident Boat Ownership

Buying a boat is an exciting investment, but it can also be overwhelming.

Through Marine consulting services, I’ll provide you with unbiased advice throughout the boat purchasing process.
My services include a comprehensive assessment of the boat’s condition, build quality, and maintenance overview, along with a basic valuation to help the client decide if it’s a smart buy.

How it works:

Avoid Expensive Mistakes.

Buy the Right Boat.

Move Forward with Confidence.

Buyers often focus on cosmetics, and that’s understandable.
You want a clean, good-looking boat.

Let’s look more deeply and identify potential issues, so you make the right choice:

Identify the correct type of boat for your lifestyle and intended use.
Evaluate vessel condition and identify potential problems before you buy.
Understand the value and safety standards that matter most.

What I look for as a Marine Advisor:

Inspection of the hull (wet surface, topside, transom, deck, and propulsion)

A visual inspection of the vessel to assess the condition of the hull and deck, detect signs of water intrusion, and look for indicators of structural integrity. The inspection also covers the bilge, hoses, thru-hulls, seacocks, hardware, electrical systems, propulsion components, basic electrical, fuel systems, installation quality, anchor system, and visible corrosion or deferred maintenance. If included, I also verify the conditions and compliance of the required USCG safety equipment.

“Limited Trial Run,” sometimes incorrectly called a Sea Trial

The goal is to evaluate the vessel’s overall performance and handling characteristics, including engine start-up,
performance under load, throttle response, acceleration, and cooling system operation. I also assess steering responsiveness, vibrations or abnormal noises, basic seaworthiness, and monitor key engine indicators such as
temperature, RPMs, acceleration, and oil pressure.

Note that this is not a full Marine, Electrical, or Mechanical Survey; it is a structured, experienced advisory evaluation to assess the vessel’s overall condition as of the inspection date.

With professional insight and hands-on marine expertise,
I help you find a boat that truly fits your needs
so you can enjoy the water safely, confidently, and without regret.
